About this place
At Kadokko, the thick, chewy noodles can be served in a hot bowl or chilled with broth poured over them. Diners have praised their firm bite and smooth texture, though some found them especially thick and substantial. If you like noodles with plenty of chew, try the hot Sanuki udon or kama-tama udon, served with egg.
The curry udon comes with a raw egg and pickled rakkyo for 550 yen. One diner recalled the dashi-rich curry and the sweetness of its onions. The menu also lists chikuwa tempura curry udon for 650 yen, a choice if you fancy tempura with your curry. You can also opt for 1.5 portions of noodles, making it a hearty lunch.
For a chilled bowl, the chikuwa tempura and grated yam udon, topped with raw egg, costs 750 yen. If you would like some crisp grated daikon alongside the smooth yam and tempura, consider the chikuwa tempura oni-oroshi bukkake udon. The menu describes the daikon as crunchy; this dish costs 700 yen. Another diner enjoyed the crisp texture of the chikuwa tempura, making chilled udon with tempura a tempting combination to try.
Kama-tama udon costs 500 yen. One diner ate about half the noodles before adding dashi, enjoying the bowl in two different ways. A rice ball makes a simple extra, at 100 yen each. A visitor reported that the restaurant has only counter seating and limited space, which may suit a solo lunch. Kadokko is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 to 14:30; choose between a hot or chilled bowl for lunch.
